Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What can I expect in the first therapy session?

The first session (otherwise known as the "Intake" is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will go over the forms that you completed prior to the session, and talk more in depth about your background, what's bringing you to therapy, and go over your goals. This will also be an opportunity for you to get a feel for my style.

How often will we meet?

I typically like to start with weekly sessions to build rapport and consistency. Over time, we may adjust the frequency based on your progress, needs, and goals - some people enjoy meeting weekly, while others might wish to move to every other week or once a month.

What types of concerns do you specialize in treating?

I specialize in working with adults who are navigating anxiety (including health anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety), depression, trauma, relationship challenges (such as nonromantic or romantic breakups), and career challenges like feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the future.

How does "out-of-network" reimbursement work?

If I'm not in network with your insurance, you may still be able to use your out of network benefits. Essentially, you would pay for sessions up front, and I would provide you with a "Superbill" that you would submit to your insurance company. Depending on your plan, you may receive reimbursement. I always encourage clients to check with their insurance providers for specifics on their out-of-network coverage.
